Discover the creative world of wood carving with Steve Hunter. A Toronto, SD-based carver that has been carving since 1998. This beginner-friendly course is designed both for absolute beginners and for those coming back to carving after a pause. Learn core safety and carving fundamentals using one knife, plus a complete end-to-end project. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and supportive, with patient coaching.

Your registration includes a full personal carving kit to keep:

  • High-quality carving knife
  • Cut-resistant carving glove
  • Finger safety tape
  • Leather strop and stropping compound
  • Carving pattern and basswood for project and practice
  • Pencil
  • Heavy canvas tool roll and a heavy-duty canvas bag

Minimum age is 16 or 14 if accompanied by an adult in all sessions.

This is a single class held over 3 Tuesday evenings - October 6, October 13, and October 20. Location is the Codington County Heritage Museum basement.
